Kahviland (Coffee-Land) in Kirkenes

Kahviland (Coffee-Land) is a performance art project by Kristina Junttila and Leena Kela, taking place as a laboratory for a week at different locations in Northern Finland, Sweden and Norway during 2010 and 2011.
The artists set up a laboratory space in five venues. There they write coffee exercises (short performance scores) based on local visits and of coffee drinking. They publish the exercises in their laboratory room and on the project web page. During each laboratory the artists will realize some of the exercises as performances and will invite you to participate in a communal coffee Happening at the end of the week.
They will for instance write exercises for the domestic life and better future by reading the coffee grounds, choreographing the coffee rituals and reading the regional newspapers, while drinking our morning coffee…
